Hey Oxyfans! Oxygen 4.0 Alpha has been released and is available for testing!
In this video, Elijah shows us some of what’s new in Oxygen Builder 4, and I must say, it looks great!
A Few of the Minor Tweaks
It starts with a new, animated loading screen that is just so much more interesting to watch.
Then, it moves on to a more modern looking UI, with more easily accessible buttons for several functions, including the various breakpoints, plus the style sheets and selectors, which you can access without having to go through a sub menu.
There are improvements to classes and ids, with a much more visual implementation of them.
You can copy and paste elements between pages, without having to make them “reusables”.
There have been some common keyboard shortcuts added, like copy, paste, save, and more.
You can now double-click an element to rename it – and this is done easily at the top of the element pane, not in the structure pane.
A Major Change
One of the major changes is moving from using shortcodes to render sites, to using json. Before, Oxygen had to take the shortcodes, convert them to json to use inside Oxygen, and then convert them back to shortcodes. Eliminating some of those steps will provide a bit of a performance enhancement, and we all know that Oxygen is already “famous” for it’s speedy performance.
WooCommerce
There’s a new “mini-cart” element, that can be styled and will show what a visitor has added to their cart. Nice!
You can now override Woocommerce templates without using a plugin.
Much More
Watch the video for details on these functions and many more! If you’re an existing oxygen user interested in testing these versions, go to the oxygenbuilder.com site and download the alpha version. Please note that this alpha should not be used in a live or production environment since there are still a lot of modifications to be made.
